Awkward Moments: (How to Make Attractive People Think You're A Weirdo)

Image
A couple months ago I was in the library at school. It was around finals, so I was dedicating myself to writing one of my research papers. I had been focused on the computer screen for at least three hours, when my mind began to wander (which is actually a long time for me, because I am easily distracted). As I looked around the library in boredom, my eyes fixed on the most gorgeous boy I have ever seen. My goodness, this boy was at least 6'2, with dark hair, blue eyes, and he was laughing so I could see that he had very white teeth. (Yes, I am still obsessed with teeth) I am ashamed to say that I had been gawking at him for at least two minutes, I may have even started drooling a little. Suddenly, he looks up and he starts staring back at me, then I was like, "oh crap", and proceeded to do the following: It was seriously one of the most awkward moments of my life. I pretended to be looking for someone, then checked my phone to pretend like I was waiting ...

Happy Valentine's Day Ya Filthy Animals

Image
Today in Seminary there were three people who either gave or got things from their significant others. A couple of the girls in my class were bemoaning the fact that they are single and alone on Valentine's Day. One of the girls even went so far as to dress in all black and act depressed, throughout the whole Seminary lesson. I am going to be honest here... There are only two girls in our senior class who are in relationships. I like the majority of the girls in my class am single right now. Mostly, it is because I am filling my time with other things (like blogging), school, work, and preparing to serve a mission...Okay all those things, and I don't really get asked to go on dates... But I will save venting on that for another day. Ha! Okay, so there is one couple in my Senior Seminary class, and they are adorable. I think it is super cute that they are happy together. For instance, today she bought him a nerf gun, and he brought her handmade valentines and flowers. I will...

I Got Accepted to the Univeristy of Awesome!!

Image
I got accepted to my dream school! Holla! This gif, explains my reaction perfectly! It was an amazing day! I had just gotten off of work, and I was in a bad mood. I grumpily walked into the house and there was my beautiful manila envelope that read "To: Lauren Cord--- From Sam Houston State University". I had already received an email from them informing me about being accepted. However, getting an actual physical notification was beautiful. After seeing the envelope I proceeded to run through the house, singing, dancing, and saying, "I got accepted, I got accepted, I got accepted. They want me. They really want me." I am just grateful that no one from my family slapped me, and they allowed me to celebrate for at least five minutes! Today is the first day I've posted since Thanksgiving....So I am planning on posting a couple posts to catch y'all up on my life! You know, if you care and stuff...

Thanksgiving Day 3

This afternoon I found out that a girl in my stake passed away. She was only 18 years old, and had just started college in August. Although, we were not close friends, we served together at Girls Camp, and in our Stake Christmas Fireside for many years. I am deeply saddened for her family during this time, and pray that they will be able to be comforted during this difficult. I also ask those who may read this post to pray for the other people involved in the accident, and her family. Madie was loved by pretty much everyone who knew her, she impacted so many lives in her time on earth. I know that she will impact so many more people in Heavenly Father's kingdom. Madie's passing has really made me take a look at my own life. It is surreal for me to think that a girl I saw every morning at Seminary, last year is gone in a blink of an eye. We seriously never know when Heavenly Father will want us to come back to Him. As I drove to work today I could not get this tragedy ou...

Thanksgiving Day 2

Today I am thankful for an education. It has now become crunch time for me. I only have three classes until I finally attain my Associates Degree. Unfortunately, those classes are two sciences, and a math. Ugh. But hopefully I will be able to place into them and accomplish my goal! I am also applying to colleges!! Craziness! I was invited to an Honor College dinner at Sam Houston! I'll write about it another time, but lets just say I really, really, really, really want to get accepted. It sounds fantastic. I am also thankful for my parents for pushing me to be better, and to get ahead in college work! They are obviously super wise. I never would have been able to do this all on my own! I love them!

Thanksgiving Day One!!

Image
Okay, so I have never blogged from my phone before, so this will be interesting! Winter I my favorite time of the year. I love the cold weather, the clothes, the Christmas romantic comedies, and especially the general attitude. I love having an attitude of gratitude. And it seems like during the holiday season other people adopt that point of view as well. One of the most rewarding feelings is when you bring a light into someone's life, and the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays gives opportunities to do that. For the next five days I will be posting the things I am thankful for!! 5) Over the summer, I decided that I wanted to do a big project for personal progress. I decided on making baby hats for premature babies. Unfortunately, however, I am not crafty, I don't know how to knit, and I fail miserably at every artsy endeavor I have tried. Despite all the things that could go wrong, I bought hat knitting looms. It took a couple of days for me to finally learn how to do ...

Blessings Post... (A Precursor to my Girls Camp Recap Post)

This past week has been fantastic! I just got back from my 6th year of Girls Camp!! I went to look back on my past Girls Camp posts! I have had a recap post since my first year! It is amazing to look back and see how I've progressed the last couple years! I cannot even wrap my head around the fact that I am now officially a Senior in high school! I'm kind of freaking out so much! I only have four classes to go until I get my Associates Degree, but I'm a little bit worried because they're college science and math classes... But I know that as I pray and work hard it will turn out just fine! I have had such amazing service oppurtunities this year being Laurel president, High School Representative, and Seminary president, I'm just sad that my time is going to be crunched this next year and I won't be able to participate as much! I have throughouly enjoyed all my experiences! They have all been blessings in my life! Something else that has totally change my life i...

SPRING BREAK!!!!

Image
Words cannot express how much love I feel for Spring Break right now. This picture pretty much sums up how I felt when I got out of school last Friday! It has been a crazy busy semester, so this week without having to worry about assignments and projects has been absolutely fantastic! Unfortunately, it's now Thursday and it is almost time to dive back into reality! :( Alright so here are five things that I love at the moment: 1. Sherlock Holmes on BBC!! Even when I am super busy I make time to watch this show! :) It has hilarious dialogue, plus it doesn't hurt that Sherlock is super cute! And the best part of this show is that the next episode for season two is going to air on my birthday!!!! To say that I am excited is a complete understatement! 2. Popcorn! The popcorn my mom buys hardly has any calories, it is delicious, and pretty much my favorite food at the moment! 3. The Clockwork Prince! I bought this book the week after it came out, and I fell in love with it. I...

Happy New Year!!!!! I cannot even believe that is is the year 2012! There are so many things that are going to happen this year (no, I do NOT mean the end of the world......well maybe for my parents...) That's right people I am FINALLY going to finish Driver's Ed and get my license within the next couple months (fingers crossed for Febuary), and I'm going to start applying to colleges by the end of the year! Eeek! This is also the year I turn 17! I am in shock.....Next year I will be a legal adult. I will officially be able to vote, and do other official adult stuff..... I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas, and that you had a fantstic New Year!! This year I'm going to try to write more on my Blog, because I just realized that I only posted about 9 times last year, and that's kind of sad.... Farewell for now!
